Editor’s note: MGM has yet to launch its online casino. View currently available legal NJ online casinos here.
MGM Resorts International bought out long-time partner Boyd Gaming Corporation‘s interest in the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in August 2016.
In May 2017, the company announced it will be launching its own New Jersey online casino and poker sites before the end of the calendar year. MGM said it will be partnering with GVC Holdings. GVC also powers Borgata’s online casino and poker software. MGM will launch online casino and poker sites under its own playMGM brand.
The playMGM Borgata partnership
MGM Resorts bought out partner Boyd Gaming Corporation’s 50 percent interest in the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in 2016 and will presumably operate the playMGM online poker and online casino sites under the Borgata internet gaming license.
The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa has been the market leading brick and mortar casino in Atlantic City since it’s 2003 opening. The property feature’s a 161,000-square-foot casino with as many as 3,500 slot machines and more than 250 table games. It is also home to the East Coast’s premier poker room.
Online casinos and poker rooms under the Borgata online gaming license were also market leaders from the onset of online gambling in the state until the end of the 2016. However, Golden Nugget has grown its online casino offering exponentially and taken over the near-term revenue lead in 2017.
The games at playMGM
At the very least, the playMGM brand New Jersey online casino should feature the same online casino games available on BorgataCasino.com. This includes at least 100 online slots with several titles based on blockbuster movies and recognized brands.
The playMGM NJ online casino will also feature progressive jackpot slots. Plus, players can expect to find variations of classic casino games, including:
In addition to a separately operating online poker client, the playMGM online casino should also feature a table game like Texas Hold’em Bonus Poker, and a number of video poker variants including:
- Deuces Wild
- Bonus Poker
- Double Double Bonus Poker
- Jacks or Better
The software at playMGM
MGM has already committed to partnering with GVC Holdings, Borgata’s online casino and poker software provider, to launch online casino and poker sites under the playMGM brand.
This means players can expect to find similar software to that on BorgataCasino.com. It’s likely there will be a similar number of game titles as well. Borgata Casino online currently offers 100 slots and more than a dozen popular table games and video poker variants.
GVC is a veteran gaming software platform developer. The Borgata online casino site was originally built on the bwin.party gaming software platform. That platform was bought out by GVC. Both companies have extensive experience across the globe in this field and the software has a reputation for being of high quality.
playMGM mobile apps
The playMGM New Jersey online casino should be able to go wherever its players do through it’s own playMGM mobile gaming app. The apps will likely be available for both iOS and Android smartphone and tablet devices.
Mobile gamblers should be able play a variety of slots, table games and poker variants on the mobile apps. In fact, if the app is anything like others in the growing New Jersey mobile gaming sphere, new games will be added regularly.
The playMGM bonus code
New players on the playMGM NJ online casino should be able to take advantage of a no-deposit bonus and first-deposit bonus once the online casino launches.
The offer has not yet been released, but should be at least the same as the Borgata online casino, which offers $20 in free casino chips to new players using its online promo code when they sign up for an account on the site.
You’ll find bonus codes at nearly all NJ online casinos, and MGM is unlikely to be an exception.
Borgata also offers a 100 percent first-deposit bonus of up to $600.
playMGM welcome bonus
Most New Jersey online casino sites offer bonuses and promotions to attract new clientele and retain existing ones. Such bonuses include:
- No-deposit bonuses at sign up
- Matching first deposits
- Returning player losses
- Weekly or monthly leaderboard races.
Most of the bonuses come with stipulations including specific wagering requirements. Players can expect the playMGM New Jersey online casino site to launch with something similar.
Most online casinos in New Jersey also offer player loyalty programs, rewarding players the more they gamble on the site. The playMGM online casino is expected to roll out a loyalty program connected to the MGM’s M Life Rewards program. The program is free. MLife offers members the opportunity to earn points redeemable for hotel, dining, entertainment and gaming activity at any one of 16 land-based MGM Resorts International casino and hotel properties across the United States.
