Batter up! This week only, Tropicana Casino in New Jersey is celebrating the advent of the 2017 MLB season with a double promotional play. Players can win a pair of baseball tickets or a piece of a $5,000 bonus prize pool. They'll also earn ten times the amount of loyalty points.
The first home run of the nascent Major League Baseball season didn’t come from the Mets or Yankees cleanup hitter, but from Tropicana Casino in New Jersey.
This week only, the industry’s most active NJ online casino has rolled out an offer that will see players move from the ondeck circle right to the batter’s box.
There, they’ll find bonuses and prizes totaling $5,600 in value.
There’s little denying that with this offer, Tropicana Casino wants real-money gamblers from NJ to start the baseball season off right.
From April 3 through April 9, players that wager $50 on any NJ online casino game — yes, video poker and blackjack games are included — will receive an entry into a sweepstakes drawing. Players can earn up to five entries per day ($250 wagered) for each day of the promotion.
That works out to a total of 35 maximum entries.
Then, on April 10, Tropicana will randomly select 90 players to win prizes, in accordance with the following prize matrix:
The tickets do not appear to be redeemable for a cash prize, but players probably won’t want to exchange them anyway, as they’re bound to be pretty good seats.
As far as the bonus money prizes go, funds need to be wagered one time on any casino game, are not redeemable for cash, and expire within 30 days.
Any funds won via bonus money wagers can be withdrawn immediately, pending the low turnover requirement is first met.

While players are grinding out their sweepstakes entries, they can also “slide” right into another promotion.
From April 3 through April 6, Tropicana Casino is awarding 10x Trop (loyalty) Points. Players that wager at least $15 on 90 Ball Bingo, $40 on Slots, or $100 on other games, will be eligible for a Trop Points Bonus, and can earn a maximum of 5,000 Trop Points.
That’s the equivalent of $50 in extra bonuses.
With the multiplier, players will earn 0.25 percent cashback on their slot wager — which exceeds the cashback rates of most Atlantic City slot clubs.
If you already plan on playing at Tropicana Casino for the Grand Slam Bonus promotion, there’s no good reason not to double dip.
Collectively, these offers are a one-two hitting punch that any opposing pitcher would fear. The sweepstakes offer is above par for Tropicana Casino, and even more so relative to industry standards.
Ninety winners may not sound like a lot, but in a market as small as NJ, it’s a high enough figure that players will stand a good shot at winning. Not to mention, the low cap on entries makes it so casual gamblers will stand nearly as good a chance of winning as site regulars.
The only real drawback, and it’s a minor one, is that the bonus funds are not redeemable for cash. Then again, the winnings are, and at least players won’t have to meet an excessive turnover requirement before withdrawing. This component of the promotion, once again, favors casual players.
The 10x point multiplier is a nice touch, although in our opinion, it’s more of a supplementary promotion. Tropicana’s base cashback rates are simply too low for us to go hog wild over a 10x multiplier.
Still, dimes are worth more than pennies.
